What does Capitol Harp Ensemble offer?

Capitol Harp Ensemble mission is to offer communities in the Greater Lansing Area the opportunity to experience, learn and perform harp. So far, we offer three kinds of programs:

After-school classes are group class that is open to students from middle school to high-school students. Students meet for 10 weeks and present a final recital at the end of a semester.

Adult Enrichment Classes are open to people who are either seasoned players and beginners. Seasoned players meets 5 times a semester, while Beginners meets 10 times a semester. All participants present a final recital at the end of a semester.

Capitol Harp Ensemble also partners with local libraries, schools, and churches for performances and presentations. Contact us directly if you are interested!

Do I need to have a harp?

For all our beginner classes, Capitol Harp Ensemble will provide the harps and music. However, the harps are shared facilities and not available to take home.

For our seasoned player classes and private lesson takers, we do highly recommend that you have a home harp to practice as this classes move in fast pace and students are expected to practice at home. However, you do not need to move your harp to the lessons.

If you would like to acquire a harp of your own after having some classes, we are happy to give you some information about buying or renting a harp from somewhere else.

What is the attendance policy?

Students are expected to attend and participate fully in every class offered to ensure the best learning experience. Only two unexcused absences are permitted per semester. If a student is out for two consecutive weeks in a row without excuse, their place in the class and ability to play the concert cannot be guaranteed. If you can not make the class due to illness, weather, or unavoidable conflict, contact us immediately. CHE is not obligated to make up class due to illness, weather, or unavoidable conflicts. We will try our best and we hope the students to do the same.

Do you offer scholarship or finanical aids?

Yes! We love helping out students who need some help to attend our program. Please sign-up our online form, and make a note that you need financial aids. You can also email us directly and we will send you a financial aid application. Financial aids are given out to K-12 students preferably. Upon accepting the financial aids, you will be asked to participate the fullest of the classes, including attending all scheduled classes, performing at the final recital, and writing a thank-you note to our sponsors.

How does the payment work?

You can choose to pay in full or pay a non-refundable $20 registration fee upon signing up. We ask you to pay in full after the very first class. Upon registration, you will receive an invoice for online payment.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you decided to cancel after the first two weeks of the classes, we will refund you at the rate of $28/class. For example, if you attend the the first two weeks of the semester and decide this is not for you, we will refund you $280. However, no refund can be made after the second week.
